It’s probably not the most intuitive, but Washington, DC is a great spot for seafood lovers. It seems strange for anyone who’s never visited DC to picture this city as anything other than politics central. But when you stop to consider its proximity to the Chesapeake Bay’s 11,500 plus miles of coastline, it becomes much easier to understand.
One of the most popular seafood delights consumed in the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV as locals say) area is oysters. Many restaurants fish them right out of the Bay and serve them raw over ice that very night. It’s not surprising that many restaurants base the entirety of their business around such practices.
Hank’s Oyster Bar has four locations in and around Washington: Dupont Circle, Capitol Hill, The Warf, and Old Town Alexandria. The closest location to our host hotel is Dupont Circle, but they all have similar menus so if you find yourself in a different neighborhood you’ll get the same experience!
Here at Hank’s, you’ll enjoy a laid-back atmosphere and coastal favorites from New England including lobster rolls, daily fish specials, popcorn shrimp, calamari, clams, and of course, oysters! If seafood isn’t your cup of tea, they also offer “meat & two” specials which consist of the daily meat and two sides. They also have a tasty drink menu that changes with the seasons. Perfect to relax and unwind after a busy day at ACHA 2018.
