Nearby Campuses

One of the greatest parts of conducing the ACHA 2018 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC is the number of ACHA Institutional Members right here in the District! If you’re new to the area and were curious about these campuses, here’s a brief overview of how to get to each of them from the host hotel. Happy exploring!

All of these metro directions begin at the Woodley Park-Zoo Station on the Red Line. It’s the stop right across from the Washington Marriott Wardman Park.

American University

American University is definitely the most difficult to reach via metro, in fact I wouldn’t even suggest it. It’s only a 10-minute drive via taxi, Uber, or Lyft though! And the campus is so pretty it’s worth the cost of the ride to go exploring.

Catholic University of America

The Catholic University of America is an easy 30-minute metro ride away. Simply jump on the Red Line going towards Silver Spring and ride six stops to the Brookland-CUA stop. From here, it’s a short block or two walk to campus.

George Washington University

This one is close, but slightly complicated to get to via metro. It’s easy, but it does involve exiting the metro and walking across Farragut Square. Take the Red line towards Silver Spring to the Farragut North Station (5 stops); Exit Farragut North and walk three minutes south to Farragut West Station; Take the Blue line towards Franconia-Springfield to the Foggy Bottom-GWU Station and you’re there!

Georgetown University

While Georgetown University is fairly close to the host hotel geographically, there isn’t a metro stop that makes getting there a breeze. The closest one is Dupont Circle, and it’s still a 35-minute walk to reach the campus. This one is probably best accessible via taxi, Uber, or Lyft. The nearby shops and restaurants make it easy to make a day of exploring this area.

Howard University

This one is a little bit of trek, but not too complicated. Take the Red Line toward Glenmont to Gallery Place-Chinatown, change to the Green Line towards Greenbelt, and ride that until you get to the Shaw-Howard University Station. The entire journey should take about 30 minutes.
